Dr. Matthew Ralsten
Dr. Ralsten is a founding member of the Women’s Specialists of Fayette, joining the practice in July of 2006. Dr. Ralsten is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and provides full service obstetrics and gynecology for women of all ages with the focus on providing excellent quality in an efficient patient centered manner. His special interests include high risk obstetrics, infertility and reproductive endocrinology, urogynecology/pelvic floor surgery and minimally invasive surgical techniques including vaginal hysterectomies.
Dr. Ralsten comes to Piedmont Fayette Women’s Specialists from Asheville, North Carolina. He completed his training at the Mountain Area Health Education Center, a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill community program, and West Virginia University where he was recognized as the outstanding teaching resident. He presently serves on the Obstetrical Practice Guidelines Committee and Ethics Committee at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
Although a native West Virginia, Dr. Ralsten is not a stranger to the area. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology for his undergraduate studies. He returned to his home state for medical school at the Marshall University School of Medicine. While in medical school, he also met his wife, Tammy. They have two children, Helen Claire and Murrill, fraternal twins.
Dr. Ralsten serves the community as a Board Member at the Joseph Sams School in Fayetteville. He is also involved in youth sports in the community and serves on the board of Starrs Mill Youth Football and enjoys coaching football, basketball, baseball and softball.
